Problem Statement

BarBot is an automated beverage dispensing machine that mixes cocktails based on user input. Through a mobile app, users can choose their drink, and the machine will precisely dispense the ingredients into a cup placed below the nozzle. The focus is on accuracy, efficiency, and user experience — all wrapped in an aesthetically pleasing design.

Solution

  1. Movable Cup Design (Initial Concept) Conveyor system moves the cup under various fixed dispensers. Elegant but discarded due to complexity, budget, and time constraints. 2. Single Output Dispensation System (Final Approach) All liquids are routed to a central nozzle. The cup remains stationary; ingredients are poured in the correct proportions. A paper prototype (40% scale) was created to visualize this design.

Project Objectives Build a precise liquid dispensing system to pour accurate quantities of each ingredient. Design a mobile user interface that lets users choose from a preloaded cocktail database. Add sensors to detect the presence of a glass before dispensing to avoid spillage. Create a modular and stable frame for the BarBot that is easy to maintain. Test rigorously for functionality, especially leaks and mechanical stability.
