Master Chords with GuitarGlove: The Ultimate Guitar Learning Glove

Problem Statement

Learning to play the guitar can be difficult due to high costs of teachers, complexity of music theory, and difficulty in memorizing chords. This challenge often discourages beginners—especially children—from pursuing the instrument. The project aims to create an affordable, intuitive, and engaging solution for chord learning using a smart wearable device.

About Master Chords with GuitarGlove: The Ultimate Guitar Learning Glove

Solution

GuitarGlove streamlines the early learning phase of guitar playing. It eliminates the need to look back and forth between the fretboard and chord charts or YouTube tutorials. Instead, learners are visually guided by the glove to the correct chord positions in real time. The team designed a glove with embedded LEDs and sensors, an ultrasonic distance module to ensure correct hand placement, and a durable case for attaching electronics. Future improvements include Bluetooth integration for smartphone alerts and real-time feedback.

Additional Info

Idea: GuitarGlove is an assistive wearable designed to help users learn guitar chords easily. Each finger on the glove features 6 LEDs representing the 6 guitar strings. The LEDs light up to indicate where each finger should be placed, based on the selected chord. Additionally, the glove uses sensors to ensure the LEDs only activate when the hand is in the correct fret position. The glove connects to a guitar learning website where users can choose chords and follow along, making learning more visual and interactive. Constraints: Must be portable and attachable to any guitar Sensor case must be sturdy to avoid inaccurate ultrasonic readings Glove and attachments should be aesthetically appealing Easy and stable mounting mechanism needed for the sensor on the guitar
