Sustainable Housing from Textile Waste for Elderly: The Cocoon

Problem Statement

An elderly homeless woman living on the streets as a ragpicker highlights two interconnected challenges: Lack of safe, clean shelter and clothing for vulnerable individuals like the elderly. Textile waste accumulating in landfills, posing significant environmental risks. Her exposure to insect bites, dust inhalation, lack of privacy, and safety issues underlines the urgent need for a sustainable, humane solution that combines social care with environmental responsibility.
